Since launching yaplet on 30 January 2007 I've met many awesome people, learned many new things, and answered many excellent questions.

Below are some of the more frequent ones. Enjoy!

Why the name "Yaplet"? Well, it stands for "Yap" + "Applet" (an applet for yapping) or "Yap" + "Let" (letting you yap), but the real reason is Mr. Wang.

Who is Mr. Wang? Wang (the original "yaplet") is my 3.5 pound chihuahua mix. He is the yaplet mascot (see logo), but he is also a "rescue"--a survivor of abuse and neglect. In spite of his past treatment by humans, Mr. Wang is now a certified therapy dog. He makes monthly visits to a children's psychiatric facility, a nursing home and an assisted living facility. Mr. Wang loves to connect and share with others anywhere he goes, and with yaplet, now you can too!

What is Yaplet written in? The first version was actually written in Scheme (a dialect of Lisp). The next version was mocked up in PHP. The version I am working on now is in Python, to achieve greater scalability, stability and security.

Where do you host it? Since the first server melted down (hey, at least people were using yaplet), I am hosting yaplet on Go Daddy.

Are you a programmer? Yes, but my background is really in Industrial Design--so the user experience is REALLY important to me.

How'd you do it? By not doing my schoolwork. Never underestimate a student's power of procrastination. :)

What do you do? I am a last-semester graduate student at the best school in the world! :) "I am a ramblin' wreck...."

What are your plans for yaplet? Right now, to graduate! Ask me in May.

How old are you? 25.

What sites do you visit? Changes daily. But, if it has an active yaplet chat on it I'll probably be there!
